Alabama QB Ty Simpson continues crafting his skill set ahead of spring practice
Gary Cosby Jr.-USA TODAY Sports

Alabama football has a quarterback returning with starting experience, but a talented player is continuing to craft his skill set ahead of spring practice.

Ty Simpson, a redshirt sophomore, is in his third season with the Crimson Tide. He came as a five-star prospect from Westview High School (Martin, Tenn.) in the 2022 recruiting class. The 6-foot-2, 203-pounder has been perfecting his accuracy and mechanics with his father, Jason Simpson. Ty was the Tide’s primary backup quarterback, seeing time in six games in 2023.

Simpson came off the bench in Alabama’s week three matchup against South Florida, leading the Tide to 17 unanswered points for a 17-3 victory. He completed 11 of 20 passes for 179 yards and had two rushing touchdowns last season. Simpson looks to put himself in perfect position to possibly become the starting quarterback. Spring practice begins on Monday, March 4 for Alabama.

Tide fans look forward to seeing how Simpson does in practice.
