Boise State Football: Taylen Green Propels Broncos In Mountain West Championship Victory

Under the direction of interim head coach Spencer Danielson, the Boise State Broncos have won the 2023 Mountain West Conference championship. It's the fifth Mountain West title for Broncos and their first since 2019. 

Following the firing of Avalos this year, Danielson guided the Broncos to three straight convincing victories, including the - title game win over UNLV on Saturday. Danielson is the first interim head coach in FBS history to win a conference championship game. 

As Danielson hoists the trophy with his team, here are our main talking with regards to Saturday's result.

Taylen Green's Huge Night

Sophomore quarterback Taylen Green had one of the stronger overall performances of his college career on Saturday. Green passed for - yards, completing 12 of 15 attempts with two touchdowns and an interception while rushing for a season high of - yards. Green also had two rushing touchdowns, bringing his total touchdown count for the day to four. 

Complete Rushing Dominance And Strong Defense

Green was just one prong of Boise State's rushing attack on Saturday. Ashton Jeanty also had 21 carries for 153 yards and a touchdown. George Holani also contributed 20 rushes for 76 yards, bringing the team total to four. 

Boise State's defense more than pulled their weight as well, with three takeaways, and two sacks, allowing only 81 yards on the ground.

Danielson's Future

Spencer Danielson formally interviewed for the full-time position. With this monumental achievement and overall improvement in Boise State's play, surely this helps his case significantly. 

If the decision isn't made before the bowl game, then Danielson wins that bowl game, then doesn't get hired, good look with that announcement.

Both Boise State and UNLV will learn their bowl destinations on Sunday afternoon following the release of the latest set of College Football Playoff rankings.
