The junior playmaker is the most electrifying player returning to the SEC in 2024.

Barion Brown-The “Blue Grass Spectacle”

You cannot catch him; you cannot even contain him. In 2023, he was a threat to score from anywhere on the field, as a receiver, a rusher, and a return specialist. Barion Brown was a nightmare for opposing coaches attempting to game plan on how to stop him as he left a trail of hapless bodies in his wake that had failed to tackle him.

Possessing elite speed, Brown led the FBS in kickoff return average, posting a whopping 36-yard average over 13 games. As a return specialist, Brown recorded three kickoff returns for touchdowns. In addition, Brown scored one rushing TD and caught 43 passes for 539 yards and four receiving touchdowns. For the season, Brown totaled 1,313 all-purpose yards.

Brown was only the 2nd player in school history to score a receiving, a rushing, and kickoff return touchdown in the Tax Slayer Bowl vs Clemson, and accounted for 226 total yards in the game. That is a feat that had not been accomplished by a Kentucky player since 1946.

For his efforts, Brown earned 2nd Team All-SEC honors as an all-purpose player and was named 1st Team All-American by The Sporting News.

Prep Phenom/1st Season in Lexington

As a 5-star prospect in high school, Brown played both offense and defense for the football team and ran track in his senior year. At the state track meet, Brown ran a 10.49 in the 100 meters. That was the fastest time in that event in 36 years.

In 2022, as a freshman at Kentucky, Brown caught 50 balls for 628 yards and four TDs. In addition, Brown averaged 27.50 yards per kickoff return and scored a touchdown. For his outstanding performance in his first season of college ball, Brown was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team as a receiver, an all-purpose player, and a return specialist. In addition, Brown was named a Freshman All-American return specialist by 247Sports.

2024 Season Expectations

Going into this season, Brown headlines an offense that will feature immense talent at the skill positions in potential starter at quarterback Brock Vandagriff, a Georgia transfer, as well as the returning #1 receiver from a season ago, Dane Key. The Wildcats open the 2024 season on August 31st vs. the Southern Miss Golden Eagles.

Brown has over 2,400 all-purpose yards in his college career and will be an offensive weapon that Mark Stoops and staff will rely on in 2024.

A weapon that seemingly cannot be stopped.
