Watch: Louisville CB Jarvis Brownlee Intercepts Sam Hartman in Senior Bowl
© Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Stop me if you've heard this before, but a Louisville defensive back has just intercepted Sam Hartman again.

This time, it was former Cardinals cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. in the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl from Mobile, Ala., an all-star exhibition that allows some of the top upperclassmen in college football to put their talents on display in front of NFL scouts.

In the final minute of the first half, with the scored tied at seven and the National Team in the red zone, the former Wake Forest and Notre Dame quarterback threw an errant pass right to Brownlee inside the 10-yard line. The former Louisville standout then took the interception 34 yards up the right sideline to keep the score tied at halftime.

Hartman is undoubtedly is one of the most prolific quarterbacks in college football history, but Louisville's defense has had their fair share of success against him. The Cardinals have generated eight of his 49 career interceptions, and six of his 22 career fumbles. 11 of his turnovers against Louisville came in his final two games against them: a 48-21 UofL victory over No. 10 Wake Forest in 2022 and a 33-20 win over No. 10 Notre Dame this past season

Brownlee's performance so far in the Senior Bowl caps off an excellent week that has undoubtedly improved his NFL Draft stock. In the week of practice leading up to the actual game, the Miami Gardens, Fla. native was consistently one of the top performers, and was named as a standout in two of the three practice sessions by Pro Football Focus.

"He is a very competitive player," PFF's Trevor Sikkema wrote. "His may only be 5-foot-10, but his 31.75-inch arms were the longest arms of any cornerback on the American team. Throughout the week, he used those long arms in press coverage and at the catch point. He should be rising up the ranks of big boards and mock drafts."

While he was somewhat limited in the final few games of the 2023 season due to a foot injury, Brownlee was still among one of the best cornerbacks in the ACC. In 11 games and nine starts this season, he logged 30 tackles, one for loss, six pass breakups, an interception and a fumble recovery.

Brownlee came to Louisville ahead of the 2022 season after three years at Florida State. While there were some struggles with lapses in coverage, Brownlee still made an impact thanks to his physical nature. Starting all 13 games in his first season as a Cardinal, he tallied 12 pass breakups, which was good for second in the ACC, as well as 66 tackles, 2.5 for loss, two interceptions.

During his time as a Seminole, Brownlee collected 78 tackles, 4.0 for loss, a sack, three interceptions, four pass breakups and a forced fumble in 21 games.
