Spring ball is in full swing for the Louisville football program. The Cardinals are just over two weeks into their month-long spring practice, with seven of their 15 scheduled practice sessions now in the books.

Louisville is transitioning from the Scott Satterfield to the Jeff Brohm era, and with that comes a lot of new faces on the sidelines coaching the players. One of which is new cornerbacks coach Steve Ellis, who is one of the few position assistants to not have prior ties to the university of community.

"It's been seamless," Ellis said about his transition from his previous stop at East Carolina. "This is a great city, a great fan base, great tradition, great facilities. I get a chance to go places, and it's all about "L's Up." The transition has been good. Right now we're just in spring ball, and we're just really just going. But I think it's going pretty well."

The Cardinals do lose All-ACC corner Kei'Trel Clark, but the cornerback room is far from devoid of talent. Starters Jarvis Brownlee Jr. and Quincy Riley are back, as are key depth pieces in Trey Franklin and Derrick Edwards III. Louisville also added Texas A&M transfer Marquis Groves-Killebrew and four-star Aaron Williams to bolster the position.

"I honestly feel like we're growing day-by-day, we're getting better day-by-day," Brownlee said. "These coaches, they put the time in to teach these guys the fundamentals, and the little things that mean the most."

Following Monday's practice, Ellis and Brownlee took time to meet with the media. They discussed the start of spring practice, the transition from the old staff to the new one, Ellis' ties to Charlie Strong, and more.
