Anonymous PGA Tour BLASTS Jon Rahm, claims he 'broke an unwritten code' following his move to LIV Golf
Lucas Peltier-USA TODAY Sports

In a surprising turn of events, an anonymous PGA Tour player has voiced his disappointment over Jon Rahm‘s decision to join the LIV Golf League. He also expressed concerns about the potential extension of the ongoing rift in the sport.

Amid speculation and anticipation regarding Rahm’s future, the confirmation of his move to the 54-hole league came as a shock to many within the golfing community. The announcement was followed with numerous more signings such Tyrrell Hatton and Adrian Meronk. This stirred a sense of unease among PGA Tour professionals.

The anonymous player spoke about Rahm’s violation of an unwritten code. Stating that his departure could potentially strain relations between the tours, the player expressed disappointment in the setback to the sport’s unity, believing that Rahm’s decision was motivated by a lucrative financial offer rather than a sincere intention to close the gap.

Rahm broke an unwritten code. Both sides had a hands-off approach to recruiting during the period when negotiations were being banged out and—maybe this is me being naive—it seemed like everyone understood that. It’s like Jon (or Jon’s team) thought they were above the detente. Anonymous PGA Tour player on Jon Rahm.

Even though Rahm’s charitable work and professionalism were recognized, the player highlighted the deep feeling of betrayal that many in the PGA Tour community still feel. While remaining optimistic about a potential resolution to the tour dispute, the anonymous star warned that Rahm’s departure would leave a lasting impact.

The professional golfer also spoke about the importance of reconciliation in the sport. As golf strives to navigate through this challenging period, the consequences of such actions are expected to have a lasting impact.

Jon Rahm’s result at LIV Golf Jeddah

Following his move to LIV Golf, fans had kept their eyes fixated on Jon Rahm. The Spaniard has so far impressed with his performances at the breakaway tour, while playing with consistency.

He was once again one of the standout performers at LIV Golf in Jeddah and secured a fifth place finish with an impressive score of 11-under par. Despite his remarkable consistency, Rahm is yet to claim victory on the tour though. His streak of three consecutive top 10 finishes though solidifies his position as a strong contender.

However, the true hero of the tournament emerged in the form of Joaquin Niemann, whose exceptional game full of skill and composure propelled him to victory. Leading by a narrow margin of two strokes at the onset of the third round, Niemann exhibited focus and determination to extend his lead and clinch the coveted tournament.

Niemann’s triumph marks his second win in three tournaments of the current LIV Golf season. Remarkably, it also signifies his third victory in six starts throughout the season, including notable successes on the DP World Tour and the Asian Tour. Rahm will have to up his game a bit more if he wants to catch with the Chilean golfer in the upcoming events.
