Farmers Insurance Open leader Stephan Jaeger caught on camera taking bathroom break steps away from tee box

Jon Rahm wasn’t lying when he said this past August that the PGA Tour should install portable toilets at every hole. After Friday’s Round 3 at the Farmers Insurance Open, Stephan Jaeger probably support’s Rahm’s plea.

Prior to teeing off at hole No. 17, Jaeger decided it was time for a bathroom break. The problem, however, is that Jaeger was far away from the clubhouse. With no bathroom in sight, Jaeger opted to conduct his business away from cameras (or so he thought) in an area surrounded by trees.

But in the era of drones roaming the air, Jaeger found himself caught red-handed. Yes, the CBS broadcast accidentally picked up footage of the 34-year-old conducting a bathroom break.

Stephan Jaeger chasing first career PGA Tour victory

Of course, this entire situation could have been avoided if the PGA Tour had listened Rahm, perhaps before making his big money move to LIV Golf. Rahm notably went to the bathroom seven times during the Final Round of the 2023 Masters, according to Brooks Koepka.

“I can tell you right now my priorities are a lot lower than what a lot of people would think,” Rahm said. “I know this is going to sound very stupid, but as simple as having a freaking porta potty on every hole. … It sounds crazy, but I can’t choose when I have to go to the bathroom. I’ve told the Tour this many times, as simple as that.”

While cameras caught Jaeger slipping, it doesn’t change the fact that he enters Saturday’s Final Round atop the leaderboard with a chance at securing his first career victory on the PGA Tour. Jaeger finished Friday’s round one-over par, holding a one-shot lead over Nicolai Højgaard and Matthieu Pavon. Jaeger holds the 54-hole lead/co-lead for the first time in his 129th career start on the PGA Tour.

He is a six-time winner on the Korn Ferry Tour and is currently the 101st-ranked player in the world.
