Golf best bets: 3 outright bets to target for the 3M Open

The golf world didn't seem too thrilled about Brian Harman's dominant victory at The Open Championship this past weekend, but that wasn't the case here at YB. I laid out why Harman was worth a sprinkle at 125/1 odds last week, so if you followed along, you were celebrating as much as I was Sunday night.

With major season now behind us, it's time to shift our focus to the back stretch of the season and the FedEx Cup Playoffs, starting this week with the 3M Open from TPC Twin Cities. Let's try to go back-to-back with my three favorite outrights for the 3M Open.

Emiliano Grillo (+2600 FanDuel)

I'm not in love with the top of the odds board this week, but I do think Emiliano Grillo presents some value at 26/1. The Argentinian is coming off a T6 finish at The Open in which he held the first-round lead at 5 under par, and he recently notched his first win since 2015 at the Charles Schwab Challenge in May.

Additionally, Grillo has a sparkling record at TPC Twin Cities that includes a T2 and a T3 in three career starts here. The combination of hot recent form and strong course history warrants an outright bet this week.

Lucas Glover (+5500 DraftKings)

You might not even realize it, but Lucas Glover is one of the hottest players on the PGA Tour right now. The 43-three-old has finished solo fifth, T6, and T4 in his last three starts, and he's gained more than 17 strokes on approach alone over that span. The iron game has been brilliant for Glover of late, and that's great news leading up to a low-scoring tournament that demands a ton of birdies. As long as the putter cooperates, Glover should be in the mix come Sunday afternoon.

Cameron Champ (+8000 BetMGM)

Cameron Champ has been abysmal all season long. There's no denying that.

The American has made only seven cuts in 22 starts and recorded just two top-15 finishes. He ranks 168th on the PGA Tour this year in strokes gained: total and 170th in strokes gained: putting, but that might not matter at the 3M Open. In his last two starts at TPC Twin Cities, Champ has a win and a T16 finish. He's gained more than 11 strokes putting over those two starts, so there's clearly something about these greens that brings out the best in him. The best version of Champ is a three-time PGA Tour winner. Let's hope he makes it four this week.
