Notable LIV golfer predicts Rory McIlroy will win 2024 Masters

It looks like not everyone agrees with Brandel Chamblee that Rory McIlroy is " past his physical prime."

Former world No. 1 Lee Westwood, now a member of LIV Golf, touched on the subject in a lengthy piece he penned in The Telegraph earlier this week. In his op-ed, Westwood doesn't just predict that the Northern Irishman will win another major.

Westwood forecasts McIlroy winning the Masters.

"Rory will now go into a 10th season without having won a major, but to my mind, he has not peaked yet and fared ridiculously well to win four majors before he was 25," Westwood wrote.

"I did not play my best golf until I was in my late 30s – I got to world No 1 and yes, I was given pelters from the US for somehow not being worthy of the moniker – and I believe Rory will be the same. He is so consistent and should carry on what he is doing. I honestly have a feeling that he will win the Masters in April and I’m not sure I’ve felt that way before."

McIlroy's majors drought has been a hot topic all season, especially when the world No. 2 has struggled. But if Westwood is right, those woes are just a stepping stone to the 34-year-old playing even more great golf.

Of course, McIlroy has plenty on his plate before he gets to next season's majors. He has already qualified for the FedEx St. Jude's Championship -- the first of the FedEx Cup playoff events -- and he will have to be on his A-game in order to have a shot at defending his FedEx Cup title.

But for anyone fully on board with Westwood's sage insight: McIlroy is listed at 10-1 at DraftKings to win the Masters in 2024.
