'Rather be No. 1 than No. 2,' Scottie Scheffler drops bold remark following DOMINATING victory at Arnold Palmer Invitational

Speaking about his ranking, Scheffler said as per NBC Sports:

It’s nice to be No. 1. I would much rather be No. 1 than No. 2... I mean, the work almost gets more difficult to stay there. It’s a challenging thing. Scottie Scheffler on being No.1

In recent events, the 27-year-old was seen struggling with his putting. This led to many wondering how much will this affect him in the upcoming events. The golfer though proved his doubters wrong with a strong comeback this past week.

Wyndham Clark praises Scottie Scheffler putting at API

Ever since emerging as the victor at the U.S. Open in 2023, Wyndham Clark has been chasing another win. This week the three-time PGA Tour winner seemed to be getting close. He would finish the third round by being one stroke behind him and Shane Lowry.

Unfortunately for him, Scottie Scheffler was on just another level. The World No.1 went ahead in no time leaving the chasing pack stunned. Following the event, Clark would praise his compatriot with a cheeky statement.

Speaking on Scheffler’s performance, Clark said:

It would be borderline unfair if he starts putting really good... If he starts putting positive each week it’s going to be really hard to beat. Wyndham Clark on Scottie Scheffler’s putting.

Scheffler would finish the final round while carding a score of 6-under 66. On top of it, he successfully converted all his 16 putts that were within 15 feet. This enabled him to finish five strokes ahead of Clark and recorded one of the most convincing wins of his career.

Apart from the prestigious title, he even took home the $4 million prize cheque from the $20 million purse of the signature event. Scheffler will now turn his attention to The Players Championship this week and enter the event as the defending champion while hoping to retain his crown and emerge victorious in back-to-back signature events.
