Report: David Feherty leaving NBC to be an analyst for LIV Golf

The movement to join Greg Norman's Saudi Arabia-funded LIV Golf league has officially hit the broadcast booth.

Reports surfaced on Monday that golf analyst and on-course reporter David Feherty is leaving NBC, where he has served as a familiar on-screen presence since 2016, to be a broadcaster for LIV Golf.

Feherty became a TV regular on CBS in 1997 and stayed with the channel through 2015. His show "Feherty" appeared on Golf Channel starting in 2011. He is now set to join former Premier League commentator Arlo White as part of the league's new broadcast team.

Feherty and NBC declined to comment on his departure to The New York Post, which broke the news about the move.

LIV Golf continues to be a polarizing movement in the sports world, whether it is because players are joining it or because it is receiving pushback from the rest of the golf world. The league was heavily painted as the villain during last week's Open Championship festivities at St. Andrews, and Norman himself was not invited to attend events despite winning the tournament twice during his playing career.

The third LIV Golf event will be held at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey later this month. The events are only available for viewing on YouTube and on the league's website.

Meanwhile, the PGA Tour continues this weekend with the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities just outside of Minneapolis.
