Reports: LIV Golf adds 3 more to growing roster
John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

The LIV Golf League is set to add three more players, including one of the standouts of the DP World Tour, multiple outlets reported Saturday.

Heading to the upstart circuit are past PGA Tour winners Danny Lee and Brendan Steele, as well as Thomas Pieters of the DP World Tour.

Pieters, from Belgium, is ranked No. 34 in the Official World Golf Ranking. New Zealand's Lee is No. 259 and Steele is No. 122.

Their move to LIV Golf is expected to become public on Monday, when the league reveals four more team rosters. Mito Pereira and Sebastian Munoz were announced as new members earlier this week.

Pieters played collegiately at Illinois and won the 2012 NCAA individual championship at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. -- site of this week's Genesis Invitational.

A social media post earlier this week showed Pieters was a bit miffed about not being invited to take part in the tournament, stating he was sad to miss his "favorite tournament." He is not a PGA Tour member but has played in about four dozen tournaments by invitation.

Pieters, 31, has six international wins and was a member of Europe's 2016 Ryder Cup team.

Lee, 32, has one PGA Tour tournament victory, which came at the 2015 Greenbrier Classic.

Steele, 39, has won three times on tour, most recently at the Safeway Open in 2017.

Steele withdrew from the Genesis Invitational this week. Lee missed the cut.
