Tiger Woods' future unclear after appearance at PNC

Tiger Woods and his son Charlie had yet to compete in this last weekend's PNC Championship when the 15-time major champion was asked what his plans are for the upcoming PGA Tour schedule. And from the sound of things, this season will be a lot like the last one: A mystery.

"It's been a lot harder than people probably imagine," Woods said ahead of last weekend's event, via CBS Sports. "As you've seen, I can hit golf balls. I can do all that. I can practice at home. I can hit shots around the green. I can do all that. I just can't get from point A to point B."

This isn't the first time Woods has said that it's getting around the course -- not playing golf itself -- that's the issue. Between his continued recovery from the February 2021 car crash and the planters fasciitis in his foot, walking has become a taller task for the 46-year-old. Even as he returned to the tournament circuit last season, Woods was careful about what events he chose to play in so that he didn't over-exert himself and injure himself further.

Woods has also had a fairly active off-season, so there hasn't been much time to rest and rehab as of late.

"This off-season hasn't really been an off-season," Woods said. "I've kind of ramped things up. But after this [the PNC Championship], come Monday, we shut it all down and take care of this foot so that I can ramp up properly."

When that ramping up will happen remains to be seen, however. The PGA schedule resumes on January 5 with the Tournament of Champions in Kapalua, Hawaii, and it sounds unlikely that Woods will be ready to hit the links quite so soon.

From the look of things, the mystery of when Woods will compete next will go on for just a little bit longer.
