Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Golf is a sport full of uncertainties. A prime example of this was seen again recently when Tommy Fleetwood made a stunning announcement. On Tuesday, the 31-year-old English golfer surprised the whole golf community by announcing his participation in the inaugural season of the TGL.

The seven-time European champion is set to be part of the Los Angeles Golf Club. He will join them as the final member of the team and take part in the Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy owned league.

Fleetwood now joins the team of  Justin Rose Collin Morikawa and Sahith Theegala. The Englishman has been in stunning form in recent times and recently claimed the crown of the Dubai Invitational Open after the massive slip-up of McIlroy.

I am thrilled to join Los Angeles Golf Club and be part of a community that shares my passion for the game. The club's commitment to fostering talent and promoting the sport aligns with my own values, and I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. All About TGL: Concept, Structure, What’s Different ?

Initially TGL was set to start this in January. However, the start of the inaugural season was pushed back to 2025 due to roof collapsing to the tech-infused golf league’s arena during construction. Big names like Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler, and Xander Schauffele have already made the golf fans more excited by joining the league.

The inaugural season will feature six teams, each representing a main US city: TGL New York, TGL San Francisco, Jupiter Links Golf Club, Los Angeles Golf Club, Boston Common Golf and Atlanta Drive GC.

A select group of 24 PGA TOUR players are drafted across the six teams, mix of experience and youth. The season will run for 10 weeks, with each team playing 15 matches. Compared to traditional golf tournaments, TGL offers a fast pace format, perfect for attracting new audiences.

As of now total 23 players are going to mark their presence in this new league. Tyrrell Hatton was originally part of Rory McIlroy’s Boston team. However, his switch to LIV Golf means the North Irish golfer will need to find a replacement for him.

One major interesting addition to this event is that the players will be mic’d up in every match. This will allow the fans to hear what the players are discussing. How much impact will this league have on the sport of golf now remains to be seen as fans are eager for the indoor tournament to kick off.
