After weeks and months of speculation, Tyrrell Hatton , a seasoned English golfer is leaving the PGA Tour. The golf star is set to leave the Tour and join their rivals LIV Golf.

As per various reports, the 32-year-old has agreed on a $63 million deal. The current World No.16 was poised to take part in the AT&T Championship at the Pebble Beach. He will now withdraw from the event and make his way to the Saudi-backed tour.

According to The Telegraph, Hatton is expected to join the team of his Ryder Cup teammate Jon Rahm. This move of the Englishman further highlights the changes taking place in the golfing world due to the ongoing merger between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf backed Public Investment Fund.

Hatton’s switch to LIV Golf has raised further questions regarding his participation in the Ryder Cup. He had an impressive performance during the 2023 edition and was part of the winning team. As per current rules, the DP World Tour bans players who play on the breakaway tour. This landscape could change in the future with the introduction of new rules following the merger.

Tyrrell Hatton likely to be out Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TGL

The reported move of Tyrrell Hatton to LIV Golf has once again shocked the golf fans. The six-time DP World Tour winner had previously committed himself to play on the PGA Tour events. While his future with his previous tours remains uncertain, he is likely to be out of the Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy‘s TGL.

The TGL, a tech-based indoor golf league was supposed to kick off in January this year. However, the arena suffered some major damages, thus delaying the start of the event to 2025.

As per Dan Rapaport of Barstool Sports, Hatton will be removed from the TGL league due to his switch to LIV Golf. All participants on the TGL are required to be playing on the PGA Tour and not any other circuit.

Hatton was originally part of the McIlroy’s Boston Common team. The team further comprised of Keegan Bradley and Adam Scott .

He is now the second big name after Jon Rahm himself who is on the way out from the TGL. Rahm previously citied he was unable to give the commitment it required. It will now be interesting to see who will McIlroy replace Hatton with on the team following this massive development.
