Watch: Rickie Fowler wins first PGA event in four years

Rickie Fowler finally got himself back into the win column on Sunday by sinking a 12-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole of the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit.

That putt gave Fowler his first PGA Tour win in four years.

Fowler has had some close calls since then, but was finally able to get his first victory since winning the 2019 Waste Management Phoenix Open.

This is the putt that gave him the victory.

Fowler was the clear fan favorite on Sunday, especially as he inched his way closer to victory and into the playoff. The crowd reaction spoke volumes as to how his victory was received. That was also the celebration of a man that looked relieved to have that weight lifted off of his shoulders.

This win comes just two weeks after he narrowly missed on winning his first ever major at the U.S. Open.

On Sunday he was able to top Collin Morikawa and Adam Hadwin in the playoff.

Fowler finished the tournament 24-under par. It was the sixth PGA tour win of his career, and the third to come in a playoff. He needed a birdie on the 18th hole to get into the playoff, and then followed that up with another birdie on the playoff hole to secure the victory.
