The “Road House” remake featuring Jake Gyllenhaal and former UFC champion Conor McGregor has been out for a little over two weeks, and in that time, it’s already setting records.
According to Amazon MGM Studios, the movie has had more than 50 million views worldwide, becoming the studio’s “most-watched produced film debut ever.”
“The groundbreaking, successful debut of ‘Road House’ is a testament to the hard work and commitment from the entire ‘Road House’ filmmaking team and the film’s cast led by the phenomenal Jake Gyllenhaal,” head of Amazon MGM Studios Jennifer Salke said in a release. “… It’s great to see the film taking off with both fans of the iconic original as well as a huge turnout from new audiences.”
The studio didn’t clarify how it calculated that number or define what constitutes a view. The movie has a 59% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

In the film, which is a remake of the cult classic starring Patrick Swayze, Gyllenhaal portrays as ex-UFC fighter Elwood Dalton, who is hired as a bouncer of a Florida Keys bar where he gets himself into a fair share of brawls.
McGregor, who makes his major film debut, plays Knox, a deranged enforcer for Ben Brandt, the head of a local crime organization. McGregor antagonizes and provokes Gyllenhaal’s character with the two engaging in a brawl at a local bar fight following Gyllenhaal’s UFC match.
McGregor last fought in the UFC over two years ago but has been sidelined ever since after suffering a broken leg. He’s schedule to make his return over the summer in a highly anticipated grudge match against UFC lightweight star Michael Chandler.
