The Stephen Curry vs. Sabrina Ionescu 3-point Challenge is shaping up to be a highlight of this weekend’s NBA All-Star festivities. The two have known each other for years as Ionescu grew up a massive Warriors fan in the Bay Area.

Curry and Ionescu are each the most prolific 3-point shooters in the history of their respective leagues. Ionescu set a WNBA single-season record in 2023 by making 129 3-pointers. Meanwhile, Curry has made the most 3s in NBA history by a good amount. He’s hit over 3,600 in his career, which is nearly 700 more than Ray Allen, who ranks second all-time with 2,973.
Curry opened as a massive -550 favorite at FanDuel when the contest was announced while Ionescu was +340. The gap has narrowed mightily since then. Curry is now -225 while Ionescu is +172 entering All-Star Weekend.
The much-hyped showdown clearly figures to be a much-watch event, and stars from around the NBA are choosing sides. One of the most notable picks comes from Curry’s longtime teammate, Klay Thompson. However, he’s not backing his fellow “Splash Brother.” Instead, he’s confident Ionescu will come out on top, telling the media he’s taking her “all day” over Curry.
Thompson is not the only one on Ionescu’s side. Myles Turner and Kyrie Irving are also on the record pulling for the New York Liberty’s star guard.
Meanwhile, Curry has his fair share of backers, as well. Anthony Edwards, LeBron James and Damian Lillard are all taking the future Hall of Famer.

Now Klay chooses Sabrina over Steph Curry on the 3 point shooting contest what the hell is going on ? Somebody explain pic.twitter.com/pgC7GhSivK
Curry has at least one more superstar in his corner in Kevin Durant. Of course, in typical KD fashion, he’s had some fun with it, switching his pick back and forth before landing on Curry.
