Trent Williams might’ve gotten a gift from NFL officials during Thursday Night Football. The 49ers’ offensive tackle appeared to take a swing at Giants defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson during the Week 3 matchup.
A mini-scuffle broke out after the Niners to exception to Robinson’s antics. Williams got irritated enough to take a swing, hitting Robinson in the helmet. It probably should have resulted in an ejection.
Instead, officials allowed Williams to remain in the game. Below is the clip from the Thursday night game:
If this is a punch then Trent Williams is SUPPOSED to be ejected…

While officials opted against ejecting Williams, the league can still take a look at this play. So the 49ers’ offensive lineman could still face repercussions for his actions.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Robinson and Williams “have had beef ever since Robinson was in LA. There’s not much love between them.” No other context was provided.
Robinson played for the Los Angeles Rams from 2020-22 before joining the Giants ahead of the offseason. So, for a few years, the two saw each other twice per season.
Just got a text that A'Shawn Robinson and Trent Williams have had beef ever since Robinson was in LA. There's not much love between them. https://t.co/Fa5mA0t2Dp

Williams is a veteran offensive lineman, entering his 14th year in the NFL. This season marks his fourth in San Francisco. He’s also a 10-time Pro Bowl selection.
Maybe there’s a little all-star treatment happening during Thursday Night Football?
