Baltimore Ravens Linked to $19.5 Million All-Pro with 24 Interceptions
Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

The Baltimore Ravens’ defense has the chance to be a work in progress in 2024.

After losing several key contributors, including stalwart safety Geno Stone, the Ravens may need to dip into free agency to add a consistent veteran presence in the secondary if Baltimore is going to make another deep run at the Super Bowl.

If the 2024 season began today, Marcus Williams would be starting alongside Kyle Hamilton, who is an emerging talent, in his own right.

However, for a team that views itself as a legitimate Super Bowl contender, upgrading at safety may be one last box that needs checked before the season kicks off in September.

Micah Hyde an Ideal Fit for Baltimore Ravens

Former Buffalo Bills safety Micah Hyde could be a fascinating fit for the Ravens to upgrade the safety room.

CBS Sports’ Jeff Kerr put together a list of the best fits for remaining free agents, and suggests the Ravens should sign Hyde to bolster the secondary.

“The Ravens didn’t take a safety until pick No. 250 in this year’s draft,” Kerr writes. “And could use more depth at the position with Geno Stone departing. They have Marcus Williams and Kyle Hamilton back there, but Baltimore has ran three-safety sets in the past.

“This isn’t a need for Baltimore, but more of a luxury if Williams or Hamilton goes down. Hyde is a natural leader and hard hitter on defense, even with his declining coverage skills. He would be a welcome piece.”

A two-time Second-Team All-Pro selection, Hyde has produced 644 total tackles through his first 11 seasons with 24 career interceptions, and is coming off a strong 54-tackle 2023 campaign with two interceptions.

Hyde’s experience and versatility in the secondary could be a welcomed addition to a defense that could find itself in a bit of a transition phase in the season ahead.
