Broncos Rookie Riley Moss Expected to Miss 4 Weeks After Core Muscle Surgery
USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Broncos will be without one of their top picks from the 2023 NFL Draft for the next few weeks.

Rookie cornerback Riley Moss has undergone core muscle surgery to repair a sports hernia, and is expected to miss around four weeks, Broncos head coach Sean Payton told the media Tuesday.

A third-round pick out of Iowa, Moss has an opportunity to challenge Damarri Mathis for the other starting job on the outside opposite Pat Surtain II, but now it looks like he'll miss the rest of training camp and the entire preseason.

A four-week timetable would still give Moss the chance to be back on the field for the regular-season opener, but missing integral preparation time throughout training camp and the preseason could hamper his chances of earning a starting job.
