The Philadelphia Eagles signed a five-time All-Pro wide receiver to their 53-man roster just a couple of weeks after adding him to the practice squad.
The Eagles traded with the Tennessee Titans for safety Kevin Byard to fortify their secondary. They signed wide receiver Julio Jones to the practice squad to add some extra juice to the offense.
Jones has stayed on the practice squad for Week 7 and Week 8. The Eagles had elevated him for both week’s games. Jones has two receptions for 11 yards with the Eagles since he was signed to the practice squad.
According to a statement by the Eagles, the team signed Jones to the 53-man roster Wednesday. The Eagles also announced Cam Jurgens is heading back to practice and the signing of tight end E.J. Jenkins to the practice squad.

The Eagles are set up for a deep playoff run this winter. It was expected the Eagles would sign Jones to the active roster sooner rather than later. The Eagles had one more elevation to use for Jones before they needed to sign him to the 53-man roster but chose not to use it.
