Myles Garrett sets Browns' single-game record with 4.5 sacks against Bears

Myles Garrett and the Cleveland Browns spoiled Justin Fields' first career NFL start.

Garrett recorded a single-game franchise record 4.5 sacks in a 26-6 win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday. The Browns had nine sacks on the day.

The previous record was held by former Browns linebacker Andra Davis, who recorded four sacks on Nov. 3, 2003.

The 25-year-old now leads the NFL with 5.5 sacks on the season.

Garrett's record-setting afternoon came just days after he met with reporters and called out his teammates for not taking advantage of the attention that opposing defenses had been paying to him through the first two weeks of the season.

Coming into Sunday's game, Garrett had posted only one career game with at least three sacks, which came during a 2019 matchup with the New York Jets.

Fields had an awful performance against the Browns Sunday, completing 6-of-20 passes for just 68 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions. He also had three rushing attempts for 12 yards.

ESPN's Adam Schefter recently reported that Bears starting quarterback Andy Dalton could miss an "additional week or two" with a bone bruise on his left knee. If that happens, Fields will one again get the start in Week 4.
