There was lots of optimism in the 2023 NFL offseason for the Las Vegas Raiders about who would be the starting quarterback for the 2023-24 NFL regular season.

This season for the Raiders featured three quarterbacks who had the chance to start for the Raiders offense, including quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and Aidan O'Connell and veteran quarterback Brian Hoyer.

Groppolo entered the 2023-24 NFL regular season as the starting quarterback for the Silver and Black. He finished the season with a Pro Football Focus grade of 65.0, a pass grade of 65.0, and a run grade of 58.8. In his first season with the Raiders, Garoppolo finished with a passer rating of 77.7 with 1,205 yards, seven touchdowns, and eight interceptions in eight games this season.

After the 26-14 loss to the Detroit Lions, the Raiders made many decisions, including a change in the starting quarterback position. Rookie fourth-round draft pick O'Connell took over as the starter for the remainder of the season. He finished the season with a Pro Football Focus grade of 65.9, a pass grade of 64.6, and a run grade of 61.6. In his rookie season with the Silver and Black, O'Connell finished with a passer rating of 83.9 with 2,218 yards, 12 touchdowns, and seven interceptions in 12 games.

Raiders backup quarterback Hoyer also had the chance to be the starting quarterback this season in Week 7 against the Chicago Bears. Hoyer finished the season with a Pro Football Focus grade of 55.2, a pass grade of 54.6, and a run grade of 60.5. In his first season with the Silver and Black, Hoyer finished with a passer rating of 50.8 with 231 yards and two interceptions in seven games for the Raiders.

There are still questions that will need to be answered this NFL offseason on who the next starting quarterback for the Raiders next season.

From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.
