Watch: Michael Irvin puts Cowboys on blast in unhinged social media rant

After 12 wins and clinching the No. 2 seed in the NFC, the expectations were high for the Dallas Cowboys heading into the postseason.

Following Sunday’s 48-32 loss to the Green Bay Packers at home during Super Wild Card Weekend, many are calling for sweeping changes in Dallas, and franchise great Michael Irvin is one of them.

The five-time Pro Bowl receiver, who won three Super Bowls with Dallas in the mid-90s, came unglued in a rant post on his X account after the game in which he called for heads in the Cowboys organization to roll.

“They put a championship on the table before I got here,” Irvin exclaimed. “My job while I was here was to match what they had done because they built this and handed it to me. … That’s all we ask — put your damn championship on the table and you couldn’t do it.”

Head coach Mike McCarthy is likely on the hot seat after three straight years of disappointing playoff performances. Sunday’s loss was the second time in three years the Cowboys lost to a team seeded lower than they were under McCarthy, who has a 1-3 playoff record with Dallas and an 11-11 playoff record overall.

Sunday’s loss was the eighth time the Cowboys have been one-and-done in the playoffs since their last Super Bowl win in 1995. In the 28 seasons since, Dallas is 5-13 in the postseason, never making it past the divisional round. Jason Garrett is the only head coach in that time to win more than one playoff game.
