Lightning's Alex Killorn out for Game 2 of Stanley Cup Final vs. Canadiens

The Tampa Bay Lightning will be without a key offensive figure when they attempt to take a 2-0 series lead over the Montreal Canadiens in the Stanley Cup Final on Wednesday night.

According to Dan Rosen of the NHL's website, Lightning forward Alex Killorn will miss Wednesday's encounter due to the undisclosed lower-body injury he suffered halfway through the second period of Monday's affair after he blocked a shot from Montreal defenseman Jeff Petry. The 31-year-old attempted to play through the issue but missed the last 19:04 of the contest.

"He's day to day in the series," Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper told reporters about Killorn following Wednesday's morning skate. "It's very much like [the Steven] Stamkos (injury) situation last year, I'll let you know when he's going to play but he'll be out tonight."

Per ESPN stats, Killorn is tied for second on the Lightning with eight goals and is fourth with 17 points in postseason play.

Both Rosen and ESPN's Emily Kaplan suggested the Lightning could utilize a lineup of 11 forwards and seven defensemen, with Luke Schenn dressing as the extra active participant.
