Well, that was quick. Almost as soon as the Rangers granted the Penguins to speak with Chris Drury, he told them he’s not interested.
Scratch NYR AGM Chris Drury as a candidate for the vacant PIT GM job. While he was viewed as a top prospect for the job, and the Penguins had asked for permission to talk to him, Drury informed PIT today he isn’t interested in leaving NYC or the Rangers at this time.

The 44 year-old Assistant GM to Jeff Gorton grew up a Rangers fans in his hometown of Trumbull, Connecticut. He lived his dream of playing for the Blueshirts, and is now shaping the future of the team for the past several seasons. His career came to an end in 2011 after a knee issue promoted a buyout.
As to why Drury has turned down another NHL team for a GM job interview, it seems he wants to be here when the Rangers start to contend. That was reiterated to me but someone in the organization as well.
The former Blueshirts captain from 2008 to 2011 has been instrumental in developing the young stars. He’s where he belongs.
