Watch: Tkachuk brothers get into fights on same play

The Tkachuk brothers — Matthew in Florida and Brady in Ottawa — have a tendency to bring a special brand of chaos to every game they play in.

It is only fitting then that when they play against each other, as they did in Thursday's Panthers-Senators game, that the chaos gets doubled.

That is exactly what happened when they each got into a fight on the same play in the second period of Thursday's game in Florida.

Everything started when Panthers goalie Alex Lyon was hit in his crease (again), angering his teammates.

Ottawa's Brady Tkachuk and Florida's Marc Staal were both ejected for the role in the brawl.

That was all part of a wild first two periods on Thursday that saw the two teams combine for 90 penalty minutes.

Ottawa has little to play for at this point in the season, but Florida is still in a three-team fight for the two wild-card spots in the Eastern Conference along with the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Islanders.

After a brutal first half of the season the Panthers have started to get on a roll down the stretch and entered Thursday's game on a four-game winning streak that helped propel them back into one of those wild-card spots. They jumped out to a 7-1 lead through the first two periods against Ottawa to continue that roll.
