On Sunday night, former NFL star Tom Brady was in Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid to watch the Spanish El Clasico between Real Madrid and Barcelona. The game did not disappoint.
It was a top-of-the-table clash between the two European giants of soccer. Real were 8 points clear at the start of the game. They made it 10 with only 6 games left to play through a late stoppage-time winner from Englishman Jude Bellingham.
It finished 3-2 in favor of the capital side. Tom Brady enjoyed when winger Vinicius Junior buried from 12 yards to equalize in the first half. Then right-back Lucas Vasquez gave Madrid its first lead of the night, which was canceled out by a goal from Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez.
Bellingham scored deep into overtime to secure all three points. Brady was in the crowd alongside tennis legend, ATP World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, and actor Andy Garcia.
Both Brady and Djokovic shared several clips and photos from the night. One of them was a still photo of the trio from the stands of the Bernabeu.
The seven-time Super Bowl winner gave a glimpse of his presence in the Spanish capital on Saturday. He uploaded a video of him riding around the neighborhood on an electric scooter while enjoying the sunny weather.
Yesterday, he revealed the main reason for his visit through a video message before the Clasico kicked off. He said,
Hi guys, here at the Bernabéu. What a great place to watch El Clasico! The sports are amazing, and I can't wait to see the NFL play her next year with the Laureus Awards tomorrow night. Lets Go! Tom Brady said in the Instagram video
Earlier in February, the NFL announced they would host a regular-season NFL game at the Santiago Bernabéu in 2025. However, they haven’t disclosed which fixture would take place, unlike the one in Sao Paulo in 2024.
